A Punjab Police officer stationed in a metropolitan area befriended a girl through Snapchat, and subsequently, he began living in a live-in relationship with the woman. In the meantime, the woman discovered that the constable was married, and under the guise of marriage, had been engaging in physical relations with her for nearly 2 years. The victim lodged a complaint with the Daresi Police Station regarding this matter. Following an investigation, the local police registered a case against Constable Jaspreet Singh Samrala on charges of misconduct.
According to the victim, she met Jaspreet Singh through Snapchat. Jaspreet lured her by pretending to be unmarried and persuaded her to leave her home. She started living in a rented house in Moti Nagar area in a live-in relationship with Jaspreet. During this time, she discovered that Jaspreet was married. Upon confronting Jaspreet, he apologized and claimed that he would soon divorce his wife to marry her. Believing his words, she continued staying with Jaspreet. However, Jaspreet began to distance himself from her. He eventually made it clear that he would not marry her. Frustrated by the repeated physical abuse, she knocked on the doors of the law. After a lengthy investigation, legal action has been taken against Jaspreet Singh. Despite filing the case, she continues to receive threats.
Regarding this matter, Police Chief Balwinder Singh stated that Jaspreet Singh wishes to marry the victim, which he has stated in an affidavit submitted to the police. However, the victim denies any intention of marriage. Additionally, Jaspreet Singh, employed in the Punjab Police’s I.R.C. department, has been suspended, and a notice has been issued. He will soon be arrested.”
