Man arrested for fatally attacking brother during a drinking session

In Chandigarh, a man was arrested on suspicion of fatally injuring his older brother, a daily wage laborer, during a drinking session on Sunday night, officials reported.
Amarjeet Singh, aged 32, passed away from injuries sustained when his brother Jaspal Singh, known as Bhura, allegedly slammed his head against the floor during a dispute around 11:45 pm, according to the police.

Jaspal Singh, an auto driver, is currently hospitalized at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16 after experiencing an epilepsy episode during his apprehension for the incident.

Reports suggest that Amarjeet had requested Jaspal to borrow Rs 100 from a tenant living in one of their rented house portions to purchase country-made liquor. However, Jaspal refused, citing the inappropriate timing. The situation escalated when Amarjeet asked their mother, Shindro Devi, for the money. When she refused, Amarjeet allegedly abused her, leading Jaspal to physically assault his brother. Amarjeet initially lost consciousness and later succumbed to his injuries.

According to an officer, Shindro Devi initially assumed Amarjeet was merely heavily intoxicated and unconscious, expecting him to regain consciousness the following day. However, when Amarjeet did not recover, she alerted the authorities, who rushed him to the hospital. Tragically, doctors declared him deceased upon arrival.

Jaspal Singh managed to escape but was later captured on the outskirts of Dhanas village and subsequently hospitalized.“Shindro Devi has five children – two daughters and three sons. The youngest son is already in Model Burail Jail due to his involvement in a rape case,” the police confirmed.
