Loss of Karanpur assembly is a slap by people to BJP: Gehlot

In a notable win for the Congress, Rupinder Singh Kunner secured a decisive victory in the Shrikaranpur assembly seat in Rajasthan, triumphing over BJP minister Surendra Pal Singh Titi by a margin of over 12,500 votes.
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot expressed his first reaction to the victory, emphasising that the public’s recognition of the Congress’s unwavering strength, even after forming the government, will be advantageous in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
While addressing the media, Gehlot said, “…This election has given several messages…The arrogance of the BJP and the manner in which they have abandoned morality… is like a slap by the people to the BJP…I had said earlier that we will register a grand victory…People have understood that we have not weakened even after the formation of government (of BJP in the state). This will benefit us even in Parliament elections.”
Gehlot highlighted the delayed expansion of the cabinet under the BJP government’s leadership in Rajasthan, pointing out the negative impact on public perception.
He asserted that the Congress would benefit from this situation and congratulated Rupinder Singh Kunner on the victory, dedicating it to the public service legacy of the late Gurmeet Singh Kunner. Gehlot noted that the people of Shrikaranpur had delivered a lesson to the BJP, especially for making a candidate a minister in violation of the model code of conduct and ethical standards.
Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasara underscored the significance of justice being delivered in the “court of the public” when constitutional institutions fall short.
He saluted the people of Shrikaranpur, viewing the mandate as a resounding response to the BJP’s authoritarianism and undemocratic policies.
Dotasara extended heartfelt congratulations to the victorious Congress candidate Rupinder Singh Kunner and expressed gratitude to all party workers.
