Kharge welcomes TMC’s move to join Opposition meeting

The Opposition parties held a joint meeting in the chamber of the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, in the Parliament building on Monday in order to make a strategy for the day.

Several Opposition parties such as DMK, Samajwadi Party, JD(U), Bharat Rashtra Samithi, CPI(M), RJD, Nationalist Congress Party, CPI, IUML, MDMK, Kerala Congress, TMC, RSP, AAP, J-K NC, and Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) Trinamool Congress MPs took part in this meeting. The Opposition parties are in constant contact following the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as a member of Lok Sabha.

TMC MPs Jawhar Sircar and Prasun Banerjee were present in the meeting that was called by Mallikarjun Kharge today. However, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee came out in support of Rahul Gandhi as well.

Kharge welcomed the TMC’s move to take part in the meeting, saying that anyone who comes forward to save democracy is welcome. Kharge thanked everyone who supported this move.

Therefore, I thanked everyone yesterday, and I thank them today as well. We welcome anyone who comes forward to protect democracy and the Constitution and safeguard the people. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the people who support us,” Kharge said.

Meanwhile, Opposition MPs were seen in black clothes to show solidarity with Rahul Gandhi over his disqualification and the Centre’s role in the Adani issue.

In fact, last year in August, Congress MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, protested in black clothes against the government for price rise, the GST hike in necessary items, and unemployment.
