Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday after multiple explosions occurred at a convention center, killing one and injuring several others.
The Union Home Minister further directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) to investigate the event.
The bomb explosion during a prayer meeting of Jehovah’s Witness members at Zamra International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kalamassery area of Ernakulam district killed one person and badly injured several more.
Shah called Kerala’s chief minister shortly after the incident was reported.
The Home Minister later directed the heads of the NIA and the NSG, the two Central agencies specializing in anti-terror investigation and operations, to dispatch specialized teams to the scene to begin an investigation.
Previously, Kerala Chief Minister said the explosion was a regrettable incident that the state government was taking very seriously.
“It’s a very unfortunate incident. We are collecting details regarding the incident. All top officials are there in Ernakulam. DGP is moving to the spot. We are taking it very seriously. I have spoken to the DGP. We need to get more details after the investigation,” Vijayan said.
