Karnataka polls: Congress embracing BJP deserters sign of ‘bankruptcy’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress on Tuesday, saying that the party’s dependence on leaders who switched to it after leaving the BJP to win elections demonstrates its “bankruptcy.”

Additionally, he charged that Congress had “insulted” the Lingayat community and treated its two Chief Ministers with disregard. At his speech to a sizable crowd at Bagalokte, Karnataka, Amit Shah said, “Recently, 1-2 leaders quit our party. Congress believes that this will be very advantageous to them. Congress won’t gain anything from this; I want to make sure they know that. The Lingayat community has always been humiliated by Congress. S Nijalingappa and Veerendra Patil, the only two Lingayat chief ministers appointed by Congress, were insulted and thrown out of the party.

Amit Shah further said that voting for the JD(S) means giving the vote to Congress.

If you don’t want your vote to go to the Congress, then vote for the BJP for the overall development of Karnataka. When the BJP made Yediyurappa the CM, it was this Congress party that used JD(S) to remove him from the post. Today, again, Congress wants to use our leaders for their purposes, but the people of Karnataka will never accept it,” he said.

The Home Minister stated that it is an election to make Karnataka a developed state and bring political stability here.

“If Congress comes to power in Karnataka, there will be all-time high corruption, appeasement politics, familial politics, and riots in the state.

Karnataka will go to the polls on 10 May and the votes will be counted on 13 May.
