In compliance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, the rescheduled Karanpur Assembly elections are set to take place on January 5. Candidates participating in the elections for the Karanpur assembly constituency in Sriganganagar district are instructed to disclose details about their criminal background by advertising three times in Form C-1 and C-2.
Anshdeep, the District Collector and District Election Officer, stated that guidelines concerning criminal records have been issued in accordance with the Supreme Court’s order. He explained that there will be a publication requirement for candidates and political parties in the Karanpur Assembly elections. The first publication is scheduled from December 23 to 26, the second from December 27 to 30, and the third from December 31 to January 3. Advertisements in the prescribed C-1 and C-2 formats are to be published in state and local-level newspapers with wide circulation. Additionally, these advertisements must be broadcast for a minimum of 7 seconds between 8 am to 10 pm on popular national and local TV channels available in the area.
