According to police, a 20-year-old woman on her way home from a college exam was shot dead by two men on a motorcycle in Jalaun district on Monday.
Roshni Ahirwar, the woman, was a Bachelor of Arts (BA) student. Her father, Man Singh, said she was returning home after taking an exam at her college when she was attacked.
After shooting her in the head with a homemade pistol, the assailants dropped the weapon near her body and fled. He was shot and killed about 200 meters from the local police station.
“Roshini had gone to write her digital marketing paper at Ram Lakhan Patel Degree College in Ait town of the district,” her father said.
The assailants were most likely known to the woman, according to Jalaun Superintendent of Police (SP) Iraj Raja. According to witnesses, the two men approached her near the Kotra trisection with their faces covered.
