It has been disclosed that Vivek Saini, an MBA student in Lithonia, Georgia, was viciously assaulted and killed by a homeless man named Julian Faulkner, and the horrifying incident was captured on camera. Faulkner allegedly struck Saini approximately 50 times on the head with a hammer at the Chevron Food Mart at Snapfinger and Cleveland Road.
Saini, a part-time clerk at the convenience store, where Faulkner sought refuge, was known to be generous towards him, offering assistance with chips, a coke, water, and even providing a jacket to keep him warm.
The motive for Faulkner’s attack on Vivek Saini seems to stem from an incident on January 16 when Saini reportedly refused to provide free food to Faulkner. Saini asked Faulkner to leave the premises due to safety concerns, stating that he would call the police if Faulkner did not comply. This refusal may have triggered the brutal attack, as Faulkner assaulted Saini with a hammer as the victim was leaving for home. Faulkner was arrested, charged with malice murder, and booked into the DeKalb County Jail without bond.
India has responded to the horrifying, vicious, and horrible incident with great force. India in Atlanta expressed profound sorrow, denounced the attack, and said on X, “The Consulate got in touch with the family of Mr. Saini immediately after the incident, provided all consular assistance in sending the mortal remains back to India, and remains in touch with the family.” According to his relatives, he excelled academically. Faulkner was standing over Saini’s body when police arrived on the scene.
