J&K State Investigation Agency chargesheets two narco-terror financiers

The Jammu Kashmir State Investigation Agency (JK-SIA) has taken a significant stride in combating narco-terrorism by filing a chargesheet against two individuals allegedly involved in financing terror activities through the illicit drug trade in the Union territory.
Identified as Zaheed Ahmad Khoja and Zameer Ahmad Lone, the accused, along with their associates, purportedly operated a narco-terror financing module, as revealed in the chargesheet filed under various provisions of the NDPS Act and UA(P) Act in the Special Designated UAPA Court under the NIA Act.

According to the statement issued by authorities, Zaheed Ahmad Khoja was apprehended last September while transporting a substantial consignment of Heroin weighing 3.565 kilograms, valued at over Rs 25 crores. Meanwhile, Zameer Ahmad Lone, an alleged active terrorist affiliated with LeT and currently based in Pakistan/POK, stands charged as an absconding accused.

The investigation suggests that the accused, in collaboration with proscribed terrorist organizations, orchestrated a scheme to raise funds through the illegal trafficking of narcotics from across the border. These funds were purportedly intended to finance terrorist acts and foment communal disharmony through targeted attacks on minority communities.

The statement further alleges that the terror funds were misappropriated for personal gain and to facilitate various terrorist activities, including arson attacks on government buildings, residences of minority communities and police personnel, as well as the offices of political parties, as directed by terrorist organizations operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
JK-SIA has underscored the deep involvement of terrorist outfits in the Union Territory in raising funds through the sale of illegally trafficked narcotics to sustain their nefarious operations and activities. The agency has vowed to continue its investigation against other associates implicated in the case.

This development marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle narco-terrorism networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring the relentless pursuit of law enforcement agencies to safeguard the region from the scourge of terrorism.
