J&K Peoples Conference leader rebukes Omar Abdullah’s over ‘Jannat’ remarks

Senior General Secretary of the J&K Peoples Conference, Imran Reza Ansari, issued a stern rebuttal to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent remarks regarding “Jannat” (Paradise) during a rally in Budgam, urging him to refrain from commenting on religious matters.

Responding to Abdullah’s comments, Ansari took to the micro-blogging site X, expressing his dismay and asserting the sanctity of religious beliefs. He emphasized that the determination of who enters Paradise rests solely with the Almighty Allah, cautioning against trivializing such spiritual matters.

“May I tell Omar Abdullah that only the Almighty Allah will decide who goes to Jannat. That is the essence of our faith, of our religion. Let’s not mock religion. Omar Abdullah will not decide who will go to Jannat and who won’t,” Ansari asserted.

Highlighting the need for introspection, Ansari reminded Abdullah of the changing political landscape and urged him to abandon outdated narratives and myths associated with the past. He cautioned against perpetuating notions of entitlement and feudalism, urging Abdullah to recognize the evolving dynamics of governance and leadership.

Furthermore, Ansari advised Abdullah to refrain from engaging in discussions concerning religion, citing a lack of expertise and practice in religious matters.

“And please don’t refer to religion. You neither have the knowledge nor are you a practitioner,” Ansari concluded.

The exchange underscores the intensifying political discourse in the region, with leaders exchanging sharp criticisms amidst the backdrop of forthcoming electoral contests.
