The official Twitter account of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, was suspended on Monday for a few hours. The J&K Police cited “technical issues” as the reason behind it.
The Twitter account, with the handle ‘@OfficeOfLGJandK’, has more than 50,000 followers. On Sunday, it displayed an account suspension notice accompanied by the message: “Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter Rules”.
Although Twitter did not offer any specific reasons, Jammu & Kashmir Police officer Imtiyaz Hussain took to the platform to clarify that there seemed to be “some technical issue” and the account would be back up soon.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman Mohit Bhan was among the first to draw attention to the matter.
LG Sinha’s Twitter account has since been restored.
