In a fierce gunfight that erupted in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Kishtwar district, two India Army soldiers lost their lives: White Knight Corps. Two other soldiers have been injured in the encounter with terrorists and are undergoing treatment. The encounter began on Friday afternoon, officials confirmed.
Ongoing Encounter in Kishtwar’s Chatroo Area
According to a statement released by the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps on X, “Based on intelligence inputs, a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar. At 1530 hrs, contact was made with the terrorists, leading to a firefight. Four army personnel were injured, and the operation is still in progress.”
The injured soldiers are receiving medical care, with one being evacuated to the Command Hospital for further treatment, while the remaining three are being treated at local medical facilities.
Heightened Security Following Terrorist Activity
Security measures in Kishtwar have been significantly ramped up following the ongoing encounter in the upper reaches of Naidgham village. Local reports suggest that security forces have cordoned off the entire area as they continue to engage the terrorists.
Earlier in the evening, an encounter was reported in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area under the jurisdiction of Chhatroo Police Station, where security forces exchanged gunfire with the terrorists.
