J&K judokas to compete at 2nd World Deaf Judo Championship

Rakhshinda Mehak and Vishal Khajuria, two talented judokas from the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council’s Judo Academy, have been chosen to represent India at the 2nd World Deaf Judo Championship in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, scheduled from April 11 to April 15, 2024.
This marks the second occasion for the duo from the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir to proudly represent their country on the global stage of deaf judo.

Under the mentorship of Chief Judo Coach Suraj Bhan Singh at the MA Stadium Judo Centre, Mehak and Khajuria have diligently honed their skills in preparation for this prestigious event.

They form part of a six-member Indian contingent comprising four women and two men, selected to compete at the world championship.

In addition to Mehak and Khajuria representing Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian team includes two women from Maharashtra, one woman from Haryana, and one man from Uttar Pradesh.

The entire Indian squad departed for Kazakhstan on the evening of April 10, facilitated by the Deaf Sports Council of India and supported by the Sports Authority of India.
The selection of Rakhshinda Mehak and Vishal Khajuria for this international competition underscores their exceptional talent and dedication, bringing pride not only to their home state but to the nation as a whole.

Their participation serves as an inspiring example of overcoming challenges and achieving excellence in the realm of sports.
