JJP brainstorming ahead of assembly polls in Haryana

In the wake of the forthcoming assembly polls to be held next year, all political parties are on their toes in a bid to woo the voters as well as strengthen their position. Meanwhile, while the ruling BJP is trying to come to power for the third time, the opposition Congress and INLD continue to mull over a strategy to ensure their victory. In light of the ongoing scenario, it is clearly visible that emerging as the winner in the upcoming assembly polls will be no less than an acid test.
Amid this, it is coming to the fore that the difficulties of JJP, which is an ally in power, are continuously witnessing a spurt in obstacles. Manohar Lal said that the BJP is the main ruling party in the state, while the JJP is just an ally partner. Further, he indicated that the BJP is capable of running the government even without the support of the JJP, adding to the woes of the JJP stalwarts. In a reaction to a question on the issue of pension, the Chief Minister said that the BJP is most likely to fulfil its promise of increasing the pension of senior citizens, as initially it was a part of its manifesto.
The BJP has hinted many times that nothing is certain about an alliance with the JJP in the future. Party in-charge Viplab Dev has stated that nothing can be said exactly about what will happen in the future regarding the alliance, and that the party highcommand has the final say on the matter.On the other hand, state president OP Dhankhar opined that JJP is trying to remove the suffix ‘Deputy’ from the designation ‘Deputy Chief Minister”. Notably, last year the BJP had decided to contest the corporation elections alone, but later, in the wake of the JJP’s objection, both parties decided to contest the elections together. Apart from this, the Congress is taking an aggressive stand against the JJP on several issues.
