Jalandhar police foils planned target killings, arrests two gangsters

Jalandhar: In a significant breakthrough, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, has thwarted planned target killings by arresting two gang members affiliated with the Bambiha gang. The police also recovered three pistols and 1 kg of opium during the operation.

Commissioner Sharma revealed that the police received intelligence indicating that two notorious gangsters associated with the Bambiha gang were plotting to assassinate members of a rival gang within the city. Acting on this information, the police apprehended Anil Kumar alias Rocky and seized a 32 bore pistol, one magazine, and three live cartridges from him.

Sharma further informed that Rocky had over 20 pending cases against him and had previously served an eight-year jail term across various locations in the state.
During the interrogation, Rocky disclosed the involvement of his accomplice, Mukesh Sharma alias Munna, who is currently residing in Karol Bagh. Munna was identified as a proclaimed offender in three NDPS cases and was wanted by the police.

Subsequently, the police arrested Munna and recovered 1 kg of opium, two 32 bore pistols, four magazines, and six cartridges from his possession.

An FIR has been registered in connection with the case, and further investigations are underway.
