Jagan’s party demands CBI probe into Amravati land scam

The YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) members collectively raised the issue of the Amravati land scam, insider trading and AP FibreNet scam in Parliament and demanded a CBI inquiry. Leaders of the party protested inside Parliament by holding placards and party’s general secretary Vijay Sai Reddy also raised the issue of the High Court’s gag order on media reporting in the land scam in the Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, public affairs advisor to the chief minister, informed that the state government is planning to challenge the gag order in the Supreme Court.

Vijay Sai Reddy said Andhra Pradesh has been facing not only financial troubles but also judicial troubles while raising the issue of gag order on media reporting on an FIR lodged against a former Advocate General, 2 daughters of former Supreme Court judge along with 12 others. He questioned the legitimacy of the order on the floor of the house. The same order also went onto enforce a stay on the investigation being carried out by the ACB and the same was also questioned by him.

“The court has taken some quite unusual and legally questionable decisions. The state is suffering not only financially but also judicially. A quite unusual and legally questionable decision has been taken in the interim order of the AP HC, imposing a ban on media and social media from mentioning anything related to a FIR filed by the police against the former advocate general of the police and others,” he added.

Stating the order unusual, Vijay Reddy said there appeared to be no material to justify such censorship
other than the allegation by the petitioner that it has foisted the case. The order also accompanies an order saying that there would be a stay on the case itself.

“This is political vendetta being practised by someone who has served during the previous regime. The judiciary is not impartial. The judiciary is biased against the Government of Andhra Pradesh,” he alleged. Earlier, party’s leader in the Lok Sabha P. Mithun Reddy raised the same issue and said that law should be equally implemented for every citizen, be it the Prime Minister or a common man.
