J-K Security: Amit Shah Chairs Important High-Level Meeting

Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a pivotal high-level security review meeting on Tuesday, focusing on the intensifying security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting aimed to assess the effectiveness of the security grid and address various security-related aspects in response to recent attacks in the Union Territory.

During the comprehensive meeting, Shah directed his attention toward achieving complete area domination and fostering improved coordination among the Police, Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Home Minister emphasized the imperative to bolster and fortify local intelligence networks within the Union Territory.

Key Highlights of the Meeting:

  1. Area Domination and Coordination: Shah stressed the need for complete area domination, urging enhanced collaboration among security forces to counter emerging threats effectively.
  2. Boosting Local Intelligence: Recognizing the crucial role of intelligence in countering security threats, the Home Minister emphasized the necessity to strengthen local intelligence mechanisms in Jammu and Kashmir.
  3. Review of Security Plans: The meeting included a thorough review of the area domination plan, zero-terror plan, law and order situation, cases related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and other security-related issues. Shah aimed to refine security strategies to tackle evolving challenges.
  4. Attendees: The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, National Investigation Agency DG Dinkar Gupta, Director Generals of Central Reserve Police Force, and the Border Security Force. Key officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Jammu and Kashmir were also present.
  5. Strategic Presence: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and Army Chief General Manoj Pande participated, highlighting the strategic importance of the discussions.

The meeting occurred in the aftermath of recent attacks, including the loss of four soldiers and injuries to three others in an encounter in Rajouri’s Poonch region on December 21. Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to a decisive battle against terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, emphasizing a policy of zero tolerance.

This review meeting signifies the government’s proactive stance in addressing escalating security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir, aligning with a commitment to a robust security apparatus and a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.
