J-K Police sack 36 police personnel

Two Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs), nine Head Constables (HCs), 25 Constables and Selection Grade Constables (SgCT), were among the 36 Police Officials sacked on Thursday by Jammu Kashmir Government for involvement in anti-national and cases of corruption.

In a written statement the state government said, “While taking several measures for the human resource development of employees of J&K by addressing issues like adhocism, timely promotions, conduct of DPCs, suitable training etc., it is also firm on weeding out inefficient and corrupt government employees.”

In its resolve to make administration efficient and transparent, the government is taking firm action against the employees found guilty of misconduct and inefficiency.

“Acting tough against such employees, the government today, after scrutinising records of government servants in terms of Article 226(2) of the J&K Civil Service Regulations, 1956, regulating cases of employees with inefficient working and service misconduct, along with departmental internal reviews, ordered the premature retirement of 36 police personnel.”

The designated review committee had found instances of underperformance, criminal cases, corruption cases, etc. It further said that all 36 police officials had doubtful integrity and exhibited a lack of dedication towards their assigned duties.

“It would be in the public interest to retire them prematurely in terms of Article 226 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations, 1956,” the Designated Review Committee had recommended.

The authorities, while taking a serious view, have directed that all similar cases may be identified and action may be initiated. Besides, public servants should remain cautious while discharging their official duties, and any such public servant who is found to be involved in any official misconduct, inefficient in public service delivery, or corruption should not be allowed to continue in the government service.
