Iran protestors torch police station in video as unrest over Mahsa Amini’s death spread

The unrest sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini grew more intense for a sixth day when, on Thursday, protesters torched police stations and vehicles in Tehran, the capital of Iran, as well as numerous other cities around the nation. Mahsa Amini, 22, passed away last week after the morality police arrested her for not wearing a hijab.

The worst demonstrations in Iran since 2019 have spread to at least 50 cities and villages as a result of Mahsa Amini’s death.

Videos posted on the Iran protest-focused Twitter account 1500tasvir, which has about 100,000 followers, showed demonstrators yelling “We will die, we will die, but we’ll get Iran back” in the vicinity of a police station that was set on fire.

According to Reuters, a second police station in Tehran’s capital city was set on fire.

Iran banned internet access when there was no sign that the demonstrations were abating. Women have been a significant part of the protests, and several of them have waved or burned their hijabs or cut their hair in public.
