A woman constable entered the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College to investigate a ragging case in July this year in Indore. The undercover Shalini Constable solved the case by making 11 accused students arrested.
According to the Police station In-charge, “The victims were not willing to reveal their or the accused students names. They had complained to the Delhi UGC helpdesk. The Dean of MGM college lodged a complaint and the case was registered. The students (victims) were unwilling to come forward and provide comments, even though an investigation was launched.”
“The four police personal team was formed with Shalini to probe the matter. They went as a nurse, students & employees. They interacted with the students and managed to identify the accused students. Until now approximately 11 students have been arrested so far and if more names come up in the investigation, they will face action as well,” said the Police station In-charge.
Shalini revealed, “In my eight years of job, it was my first undercover operation. It was quite difficult. I was first apprehensive to pretend to be an MBBS student, but Tehzeeb Qazi, the station in charge, encouraged me to go undercover and identify the suspect.”
