India’s One Nation, One Ration Card scheme is a revolutionary step

Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday lauded the Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojana, saying that it saved the lives of millions of people during the Covid pandemic. He also praised the PM’S initiative of opening bank accounts for people during the crisis and said that more than 20 lakh women benefitted as more than Rs. 30 thousand crores were directly sent to their accounts. He termed PM Modi’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme as a revolutionary step.

While addressing the India News Manch Conclave, Narendra Singh Tomar elucidated on the Agricultural ministry’s roadmap to deal with the upcoming Covid pandemic and said, “I want to tell the people of the country that any challenge can occur any time, but we need to make our mindset solution oriented. In the past, when similar situations occurred, we had the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the nation was with him and as a result, we came out strong from the pandemic. We can be satisfied with the point that our country did better in comparison to many technically developed and richer countries, under the guidance of PM Modi. We have been globally praised for the same and if in future any such situation reoccurs, we will be ready for that.”

On being asked about China’s role in spreading the virus, the agricultural minister said that he firmly believes if any country suffers from a pandemic, then we should show sympathy.

He further talked about the ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi despite the virus threat. He said, “It is not only the government’s responsibility to take control of the situation, but also the Opposition. It is not concerned with dignity but the lives of 130 crore people of this nation are at stake. The virus will spread in the crowd, so the necessary measures should be taken. People should have this discipline, especially the political leaders.”

He further spoke about the farmer’s income, ‘Agri-Startups’ and ‘Millet Year 2023’. He said, “Millet is not new to India. It is an Indian grain. In previous times, the majority used to consume millet. But over time rice and wheat became occupied our plates. Once upon a time, India faced a lack of agricultural production so the government schemes were production oriented. But, today we are agriculturally prosperous. Now we should focus on two things- the farmer’s income and our immunity. PM Modi is constantly working in this direction. He is a man of farsightedness. He presented the idea of dedicating a whole year to the recognition of millets in the UN, as a result, 2023 will be observed as Millets Year.”

He said that this will increase the production of millets in the country and as we are the biggest exporter of millets therefore the export will automatically increase.

He further attacked the opposition for their schemes of distributing things for free in the greed of votes. He said people’s requirements should be fulfilled by the government but free schemes will harm the country.
