India-UAE discuss ways to deepen Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra recently held discussions with UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy, focusing on enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The meeting, held in Delhi, aimed to deepen the multifaceted bilateral ties between India-UAE.

Reviewing Bilateral Relations

During the meeting, Vinay Kwatra and Reem Ebrahim Al Hashimy reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, highlighting the importance of cooperation and collaboration in various sectors.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, confirmed the meeting and stated that discussions covered a wide range of topics related to the India-UAE partnership. The officials explored avenues to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting the ongoing efforts to deepen ties between the two countries.

Changing Perception and Economic Cooperation

India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, recently highlighted the evolving perception of India-UAE over the past decade. He noted significant milestones such as the free trade agreement and the growth of bilateral trade, reaching approximately $80 billion. Jaishankar also mentioned the acceptance of India’s request to build a temple in the UAE, signaling the growing cultural and social ties between the nations.

Key Agreements and Initiatives

The inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi and the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2022 underscore the depth of the India-UAE partnership. These agreements aim to boost economic cooperation and enhance trade relations, with a target of reaching $100 billion in merchandise trade over the next five years.

The ongoing discussions and initiatives between India-UAE reflect a strategic commitment to strengthen bilateral relations across various sectors. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership continues to evolve, fostering cooperation in trade, culture, and strategic areas, marking a significant milestone in the longstanding ties between the two nations.
