According to officials, India successfully tested the new generation AKASH missile in flight on Friday off the coast of Odisha from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur. DRDO carried out the flight test at very low altitude against a fast-moving unmanned aerial target. They claimed that the weapon system successfully intercepted and destroyed the target during the flight test.
“It has validated the functioning of the complete weapon system consisting of the missile with indigenously developed Radio Frequency Seeker, Launcher, Multi-Function Radar and Command, Control & Communication system”, the officials said.
