India News-Jan Ki Baat Poll Predicts Bjp In UP, AAP In Punjab

In the final opinion poll before first phase of voting, India News-Jan Ki Baat projected a victory for the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party in a highly polarised Uttar Pradesh election; a comfortable majority for Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab; and a slender edge for the BJP in a tough electoral battle in Uttarakhand.

UTTAR PRADESH: In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is projected to get anywhere between 228 and 254 seats and could get a vote share of 41.3% to 43.5%. The Samajwadi Party alliance under Akhilesh Yadav’s spirited leadership is expected to get its highest ever projected vote share of 35.5% to 38%. The opinion poll has predicted a single digit seat share for both Congress and BSP. While BJP is expected to get fewer seats in Western Uttar Pradesh than in 2017, but it’s still projected to get more seats than the SP. What seems to be working majorly in BJP’s favour is the fact that 70% women want to see the saffron party form government once again.

PUNJAB: For a third consecutive time, the India News-Jan Ki Baat opinion poll has projected a victory for Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab, with a projected seat share of 60-66 and a projected vote share of 41%-42%. Congress, which declared Charanjit Singh Channi as its Chief Ministerial face on Sunday is expected to get anywhere between 33-39 seats and is projected to get a vote share of 34%-35%. While the AAP is projected to make gains from Malwa and Majha, Congress is projected to gain from Doaba.

UTTARAKHAND: In what’s turning out to be one of the closest elections of 2022, Uttarakhand could see BJP form government, with India News-Jan Ki Baat opinion poll projecting 34-39 seats in the 70-seat Assembly, with the Congress not far behind, bagging 27-33 seats. The projected vote share of the BJP is 40% and Congress 38%.
