INDIA bloc breakdown, AAP offers 1 seat in Delhi to Congress, names candidates in Goa, Gujarat

The INDIA bloc finds itself fading into history, as the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) exited the alliance in Uttar Pradesh, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rejected the Congress in Delhi. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting a 3-4 seat-sharing arrangement, the AAP offered the Congress a single Lok Sabha seat in Delhi, acknowledging the Congress’s limited electoral success. AAP MP Sandeep Pathak emphasized the alliance’s spirit, stating, “we offer them one seat,” proposing the Congress contests one seat while the AAP fields candidates in the remaining six.

Pathak, expressing disappointment over stalled seat-sharing discussions, revealed that despite two official meetings, no concrete outcomes were achieved. The AAP intends to announce candidates for the six seats if discussions yield no results soon. Additionally, the AAP announced Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas as the candidate for the South Goa seat, challenging the Congress’s current hold on the constituency. Candidates Chaitar Vasava from Bharuch and Umesh Bhai Makwana from Bhavnagar were also named for Gujarat seats.

Highlighting the lack of progress and uncertainty regarding future meetings with the Congress, Pathak shared his frustration, emphasizing the party’s readiness to proceed with its plans. As the Lok Sabha elections approach, political parties, including the BJP, are intensifying efforts to connect with voters. The INDIA bloc faces challenges, with new partners like the RLD joining the BJP and internal disagreements hindering a united front.
