In order to improve radio connectivity, PM Modi will today inaugurate 91 FM transmitters.

Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will digitally inaugurate 91 FM transmitters in 84 districts across 18 states and 2 union territories, improving radio connectivity throughout the nation.

“The government is committed to improving FM connectivity throughout the nation. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement that the 91 new 100 Watt FM transmitters had been placed in 84 districts across 18 States and 2 Union Territories. A special focus of this expansion has been on enhancing coverage in Aspirational Districts and in border areas, the statement read.

“The States and UTs covered include Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Ladakh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands,” the PMO said.

According to the PMO, “With this expansion of AIR’s FM service, an additional 2 crore people, who did not have access to the medium, will now be covered.  A 35,000 sq km area will see an enhancement in coverage as a result. The Prime Minister has long held a strong belief in the value of radio in interacting with the general public.

The statement said, “Prime Minister started the Mann ki Baat show, which is now approaching its landmark 100th episode, to harness the special strength of the medium to reach out to the biggest possible audience.
