IMD warns of heavy rainfall in many states including Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rain in the next 24 hours in Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Odisha, and Goa. At the same time, the northeastern state of Assam is also reeling under floods. As a result, millions of people in the state are homeless.

At the same time, heavy rains continue in most parts of North India, including the hill states of Himachal, Uttarakhand, Jammu, and Kashmir. As a result, crops have also been submerged in many places. So far, 218 people have died in flood and rain-related accidents in 25 states.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that one or two places in Punjab might receive heavy and regular rain in some districts. The state will remain cloudy and robust wind may also blow throughout the day on Thursday. However, light rain is likely expected over parts of Haryana, Delhi, UP, Jharkhand, Bihar and Tamil Nadu.

Moreover, heavy rain is expected over Uttarakhand, Himachal and South-East Rajasthan. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, and people have been advised to stay away from rivers. However, in the next 24 hours, light rain and thunderstorms will occur at many places in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, floods have wreaked havoc in Gujarat and Mumbai’s urban and rural areas. In addition, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has forecast hefty rainfall in Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai and its adjoining areas.
