I’m proud of Sardar Udham, reveals Vicky Kaushal

It is the 6th season of No Filter Neha on video, hosted by the ever-charismatic Neha Dhupia and who is on it next? Giving audiences a peek into his personal life, it is none other than Vicky Kaushal who made some fun revelations.
The Bollywood actors reveals, “I am really really proud to be part of Sardar Udham because it’s that one story, its that one character being a punjabi maine bachpan se suni thi unki kahani and I always kept thinking ki yeh kahani duniya bhar mai logo ko kyu nahi pata why is it just known to just Punjabis or just Punjab.

Kuch Kahaniya jo ap bachpan se sunte ho phir then to become an actor to get the opportunity to play that character was a huge deal for me. It was very surreal and with a director who I have been wanting to work with like since my first film I had always dropped a message to him ki sir picture dekh lena. I didn’t know he lives in Kolkata he’s not living in Bombay so I used to call him for every screening he would be like I am not here but I was so happy and I was just so like this is more than a film for me and it was as pure for Shoojit Da as well who was telling the story. So just being a part of that process, working with Shoojit da for a story based on Shaheed Sardar Udham Singh ji it was for me was like okay no matter what happens with the film this is that one film jo apne poton ko bolunga ki yaar ye kahani ka hissa bana tha mai. Good Bad ugly whatever but it’s just like I am so proud that I got to be a part of that process”

Taking a look at his acting career, Vicky studied acting at Kishore Namit Kapoor’s academy while simultaneously participating in theatre with Manav Kaul’s Aranya group and Naseeruddin Shah’s Motley Productions; doing everything from backstage and announcements to stand-ins. Kaushal would spend the next two years going for various kinds of auditions, but did not get any good opportunities. His first attempt at acting was in a theatrical production titled Laal Pencil in 2011.

Kaushal started his career in films by working as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap in the two-part crime drama Gangs of Wasseypur (2012).
Kaushal has described fond memories of working with Kashyap, whom he considers as his mentor. He then played minor roles in Kashyap’s productions Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012) and Bombay Velvet (2015), and the short film Geek
Out (2013).
