On Wednesday, Swedish furniture retailer Ikea (part of Ingka Group), announced Susanne Pulverer’s appointment as its new and first woman CEO and CSO (chief sustainability officer) for its business operations in India.
Pulverer has taken over from the outgoing India CEO Peter Betzel, who will take on her next assignment within the Ikea Group. Before her role as Ikea India CEO and CSO, Pulverer held the position of compliance manager and group business risk at the Ingka Group.
After joining Ikea in 1997, this will be the third stint for Pulverer in India. Pulverer had also worked across different roles within the Ingka Group firm, the world’s leading home furnishing retailer added. “I am excited to be back in India. India is a prioritised market for the Ingka Group. Peter and the team have done a truly commendable job,” Pulverer said.
“It has been an incredible experience being a part of the Ikea India journey. I have had the support of an excellent and devoted team,” said Ikea India’s outgoing CEO Betzel.
Starting her journey as environmental manager for the Ikea Group, Pulverer had moved on to Ikea of Sweden, the product development company where she held various roles in different business categories.
After which she moved to India in 2007 to head the purchasing function for Ikea South Asia, during which she developed a passion for India and a strong connection with its people.
