Himadri Kaushik assumes duties as Panchkula’s DCP

Himadri Kaushik on Monday assumed office as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Panchkula, welcomed by ASP Manpreet Singh Sudan IPS. ASP Sudan greeted the new DCP with a bouquet during the formal handover in the office.

Himadri Kaushik, a 2019 batch IPS officer hailing from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is a Chemical Engineering graduate. Prior to this appointment, she served as the ASP in Yamunanagar and Karnal. This marks her first posting as DCP in Panchkula.

Addressing police officers, DCP Kaushik outlined her priorities, emphasizing the prevention of criminal incidents, combating crimes against women, and tackling cybercrimes. She expressed a commitment to ensuring the safety of women, children, and vulnerable sections of society while eradicating the roots of drug-related issues. Cybercrimes were identified as a top priority, with a focus on enhancing police-public relations.

Highlighting the significance of Panchkula as a crucial district, DCP Kaushik emphasized efforts to streamline the traffic system and provide comprehensive facilities to the public. The prevention of cybercrimes was underlined as critical due to evolving methods adopted by criminals, and dedicated police teams were mentioned for public awareness and fraud recovery.

DCP Kaushik stressed the importance of societal awareness about cybercrimes, urging individuals to report incidents promptly through the Cyber Crime Portal 1930. She outlined the process of freezing fraudulent funds and returning them to victims through dedicated police teams.

Women’s safety in Panchkula, particularly in the urban working environment, was identified as another key priority. DCP Kaushik urged the community to stay vigilant and report cybercrimes promptly, reinforcing the collaborative effort required to address these challenges effectively.
