HIMACHAL GETS CM BOOST IN ITS FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur reached Kwar, a very remote area of Shimla district, on Wednesday. Here, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones worth crores. The Chief Minister also made some announcements on demands of the people. Apart from these “gifts”, the Chief Minister has also taken a consignment of Covid vaccines with him to this remote area.

Like the rest of the state, the target of giving the first dose of Covid vaccine to all the eligible population has been achieved in Dodra Quar and now the campaign to give the second dose is going on at a brisk pace. In such a situation, this initiative of the Chief Minister is being considered as an important step towards achieving the target of 30 November given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding complete vaccination.

Actually, the geographical conditions of Himachal Pradesh are quite heterogeneous. There are places like Bada Bhangal and Pangi, which are cut off from the world due to snowfall. Similarly, Dodra Kwar of Shimla district is also a very inaccessible area. Keeping this in mind, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur reached Kwar from Shimla with 2,500 doses of Covid vaccine. The intention behind doing this was to deliver the vaccines safely to people in remote areas in a short time.

Himachal has been the first in the country in giving the first dose of Covid-19 to all the adults of its eligible population.  Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a “Vaccine Dialogue” with the people of Himachal for this achievement. During this, he also interacted with the doctor serving in the inaccessible area of Dodra-Quar, who was instrumental in achieving the target of the first dose in the vaccination campaign. Vaccines were sent by helicopter to Bada Bhangal district of Kangra, a far-flung remote interior.

In the Covid vaccination campaign, when people from very inaccessible areas like Bada Bhangal were being left out, helicopters of the Himachal government were used. DC Kangra, doctors and paramedical staff were sent to Bada Bhangal through helicopter.

In such a situation, government helicopter is also proving useful for the public. It was also used in the rescue operation at Lahaul Spiti.
