At Chaura Maidan in Shimla on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu formally unveiled four garbage compactors for the Shimla Municipal Corporation. These compactor units, which were purchased as part of the Shimla Smart City Limited project, represented a sizeable investment of Rs 1.40 crores, according to a press release. With a capacity of 14 cubic meters, each compactor can carry 11–12 tonnes of waste to the Bhariyal waste processing facility outside of Shimla with ease, lowering transportation costs and enhancing waste management. In line with the beliefs of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the value of cleanliness.
