Health Minister lays foundation for NCDC branch in Ambala

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya laid the foundation stone of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) branch in Naggal of Ambala Cantonment on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister Anil Vij and Rajya Sabha MP Karthikeya Sharma through virtual mode.
During the event, Health Minister Anil Vij mentioned that previously, people had to go to Delhi for every work, and initially, there was only one AIIMS. Thanks to the visionary thinking of the country’s Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, today AIIMS facilities have been established in every state, and around 350 medical colleges have been built across the country. Similarly, NCDC’s lab was initially only in Delhi, but now, NCDC labs have been inaugurated, and foundation stones have been laid in many states across the country.

The NCDC branch in Naggal village of Ambala Cantonment, spanning four acres, will cater to five states, including Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab. It will conduct tests for serious diseases and viruses that cannot be performed in regular hospitals or laboratories. Anil Vij informed that research on diseases will also be carried out, and construction work will commence soon. The branch, estimated to cost around Rs 14 crore, will have four floors, including the ground floor.

The building will feature a reception, waiting area room, lobby, conference hall, admin office, security room, IT video room, Head of NCDC room, and other administrative offices. Labs and equipment, including Climate Change Room, Macro Lab Bacteriology, AMR Lab, Lab Teaching and Demo Room, Virology, Lobby, and other rooms, will be installed on this floor. The entire building will also include non-BSL lab area, BSL-2 lab area, staff common room, open terrace, pantry, and other rooms, with provision for two lifts.

Before this, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, through VC, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of National Centers for Disease Control (NCDC). He mentioned that these projects’ construction will improve health services, and under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, efforts are being made to strengthen health services in the country. Additionally, ten NCDC branches and other institutions were inaugurated and laid the foundation stone at different locations in the country during the program.

Various dignitaries, including Director General of Health Department Dr. RS Punia, Dr. JS Punia, Regional Director Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh Dr. Amarjeet Kaur from the Government of India, CMO Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. DS Panwar, Dr. Sangeeta Goyal, Dr. Sukhpreet, Dr. Hitish Verma, Dr. Hitarth, Dr. Sanjeev Singla, Dr. Vipin Bhandari, Mandal Pradhan Rajeev Dimple, Kiran Pal Chauhan, Bijendra Chauhan, Ajay Baweja, Ashish Tayal, Jasbir Jassi, Lalit Chaudhary, Ravi Chaudhary, Deepak Bhasin, Lalita Prasad, Pushpa Gupta, and Om Sehgal, were present during the program.
