During the Raipurrani Anganwadi circle meeting, an awareness camp addressed the escalating issue of mobile addiction among children and its prevention. Nidhi Malik, a Law and Probation Officer, highlighted the adverse effects of constant screen time, emphasising its impact on crucial brain functions such as learning, memory, and decision-making.
Excessive use of smartphones has been noted to weaken the brain’s logical ability control center. Malik stressed the importance of taking precautions to ensure a healthy mind and a better future for the upcoming generation.
One key recommendation was to limit children’s screen time, including the use of TV, computers, and mobiles, to less than an hour. Increased screen time, particularly during brain development, was linked to a higher risk of future conditions like Alzheimer’s or ‘digital dementia.’
Malik also addressed the legal aspect, pointing out that children’s misuse of mobile phones has led to an increase in criminal cases against them. He appealed to both children to refrain from improper mobile phone use and parents to remain vigilant.
