Haryana to supply 24-hour power to 200 more villages: CM

Announcing various welfare schemes for the people of Haryana on the occasion of Independence Day, Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that his government will ensure 24-hour power supply in an additional 200 villages under “Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon” scheme. This raises the total number of such villages in the state to 4,838.

The CM further announced to extend Parivar Pehchan Patra to 20 lakh families by the end of this month, opening 3,000 play-way schools for children, of which 1,000 schools are to be opened this year, and opening of 82 new Sanskriti Model Schools.

He also announced plans to make 242 villages free from Lal Dora by 2 October 2020. While unfurling the National Flag, he congratulated the people on the foundation day of the Panchkula district. He said that on this day in 1995, Panchkula became the 17th district of Haryana.

“The state government has taken many historical steps towards women empowerment so that they can get the right to equality in a real manner,” the CM said adding that the recent decision to ensure 50% participation of women in panchayats is a major step towards acknowledging the women of our society.

Stating that water is the primary requirement for agriculture but it is also a responsibility to use minimum water to save it for our future generations, he said, the state government started ‘Mera Pani-Meri Virasat’ scheme to reduce the area under paddy and promote less waterguzzling crops. Under this scheme, farmers would be given financial assistance at the rate of Rs 7,000 per acre.
