Haryana to promote eco-tourism in Morni hills

In a bid to give a major boost to tourism in Haryana and to further promote eco-tourism in Morni Hills of Panchkula, Shivalik Development Board (SDB) which is chaired by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will be organising number of activities on February 7, 2021 in Morni hills. The SDB along with forest Department of Haryana has identified a number of one-day treks, Mountain Biking Treks and many other activities.

Sharing more details about the same, an official spokesman said that discussions are on with Forest Department to introduce other eco-tourism events like camping sites, off-road traveling, visits to herbal vatikas etc. A number of meetings are being held in this regard with forest officials. Other departments like Tourism and Sports are also being involved.

Board Executive Vice Chairman, Mahesh Singla also held meetings with sarpanches of Morni Block to discuss these projects with them particularly how this will help the local people. Ex- MLA, Latika Sharma was also present in these meetings and has been supporting the Board’s efforts, said the spokesman.

The spokesman said that many private investors and tourism loving people have shown interest in these activities and preliminary discussions are being held with the main idea of developing the area which is the mandate of the Board. Sharing the details about the activities that will be held on February 7, 2021, the spokesman said that SDB in collaboration with Cycling Club of Panchkula is conducting “Tour De Morni”, a cycling race where they will promote Sports Cycling and tourist place Morni. The flag off will be done in Parade Ground, Sector 5 Panchkula at 8:00 am by Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Gian Chand Gupta and Mayor, Panchkula. The race will end at Polytechnic Girls College in Morni. The SDB is also taking services of Adventure Sports Wing of BSF in this regard.
