Haryana State Swimming Championship kicks off; 250 Athletes compete

The Haryana State Senior Swimming Championship commenced at the AL Weather Swimming Pool in Bahadurgarh’s H.L. City. Nearly 250 athletes from across the state participate in this event. Rakesh Juneja, the director of H.L. City, inaugurated the competition, acknowledging and honoring early medalists.
Adding to the swimming athletes’ delight is the forthcoming construction of a new swimming pool in Bahadurgarh, designed to Olympic standards, spread over about one and a half acres. This pool will offer international-grade facilities, catering to athletes’ needs. In the 1500-meter freestyle event, Darsh Singh from Faridabad secured first place, followed by Ishant from Jhajjar in second, and Aditya from Bhiwani in third. In the women’s category, Samridhi Vijayran from Jhajjar claimed first place, Harshita from Rohtak secured second, and Tanisha from Jind secured third.The 100-meter breaststroke event saw Nishant from Gurugram in first place, Shantanu from Jhajjar in second, and Rohit, also from Jhajjar, in third. In the women’s category, Samiya Singhari from Gurugram emerged first, Ansha from Sonipat secured second, and Bhavika from Jhajjar stood third. Approximately 250 athletes are participating in various events throughout this two-day championship. Additionally, winners from this championship will earn a chance to compete in the National Games.Anil Khatri, the Secretary of the Haryana Swimming Association, revealed plans for an Olympic-standard swimming pool in Bahadurgarh, assisted by Rakesh Juneja. The construction has already commenced. He expressed gratitude to the government and Rakesh Juneja for their support, emphasizing the increased opportunities this facility will offer to rural swimmers, potentially boosting India’s international standing in swimming events. Rakesh Juneja, as the chief guest, extended his best wishes to the victorious athletes.
