Haryana Speaker directs NHAI to prepare action plan for beautification of Majri Chowk

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Gian Chand Gupta today made a surprise visit at Majri Chowk here today and directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officers to prepare a detailed action plan for its beautification. He said that a foot overbridge will also be constructed near the bus queue shelter at Majri Chowk for the convenience of the people.

Mayor, Municipal Corporation Sh Kulbhushan Goyal, Commissioner Sachin Gupta and DGM, National Highways Authority of India Priyanka Meena were also present with him.
Gupta said that Majri Chowk is the main entry point of Panchkula and a large number of people pass through this point every day. He asked the NHAI officers to prepare a comprehensive plan for the beautification of land lying vacant at Majri Chowk below the flyover. He also issued directions for shifting of the existing Island at Majri Chowk saying that this would widen the main road as well as the slip roads on all the four sides thus ensuring smooth movement of vehicles.

While highlighting the issue of barricading at Majri Chowk by the police department due to which the people had to face a lot inconvenience as the passengers coming from Shimla-Kalka towards Zirakpur have to take a U-turn from the road leading to Nada Sahib, he directed the police department to remove barricades except during the peak hours when there is heavy vehicular movement, to ensure smooth flow of traffic at Majri Chowk.
Taking strict cognizance of the complaint of throwing garbage and other wastes on Majri Chowk, Sh Gupta directed the officers of Municipal Corporation to make aware the shopkeepers and street vendors about cleanliness. He said that if they still throw garbage and other waste in the open, then they should be issued challan.

Earlier, Gupta inspected the road from Government PG College Sector-1 to Majri Chowk. Expressing his displeasure over the water accumulated on the road due to leakage, he directed NHAI officials to resolve the problem within a week. He asked the officers of NHAI, Municipal Corporation and Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to work in close coordination so that the beautification work can be completed at the earliest. Mr Gupta said that he would inspect Majri Chowk again on February 23 and take stock of the work done towards cleanliness and beautification.

Later, Gupta also inspected the entry point of Panchkula in Sector 17-18. He directed that the roadside on both sides of the entry point be made more cleaner, greener and beautiful. Also, a retaining wall should be built along the drain flowing from MDC Mansa Devi Complex. Sh Gupta also inspected the entry point near IT Park Chandigarh. He directed officers of HSVP to ensure cleanliness right from entry gate upto Dolphin Check on priority basis.

On this occasion, Superintendent Engineer Municipal Corporation Vijay Goyal, Executive Engineer Pramod Kumar, JE Rohit Saini, Superintendent Engineer HSVP Ashok Rana and Rajeev Sharma, Chief Engineer PMDA Amar Singh, Councillors namely Rakesh Valmiki, Sudesh Birla, Narendra Lubana and Sonu Bidla other concerned officers were also present
