CHANDIGARH: In an attempt to strengthen road network during Covid-19 crisis, Haryana has kickstarted inauguration and laying of foundation stones of at least eight major projects. By this step, it has become the first state in the country, to begin the construction of eight national highways and 11 roads. The total cost of the project is around Rs 16,000 crore. This entire project is being undertaken by Nitin Gadkari in Haryana, has now got an approval of Rs. 383.58 crore from the Central Government under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana to further strengthen road network by constructing as many as 83 roads in eight districts. Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala, who also holds the portfolio of Public Works Department, shared this while addressing a press conference held here today. Minister of State for Labour and Employment Anoop Dhanak was also present on the occasion. Responding to a question, the Deputy Chief Minister said that out of the amount of Rs 383.58 crore, Rs. 229.05 crore would be the share of the Central Government and Rs 154.55 crore would be the share of the state Government. He said that the roads which will be upgraded include 11 roads of more than 108 km in Charkhi Dadri district, 14 roads of more than 73 km in Jhajjar district, nine roads with a length of 117 km in Jind district, six roads with a length of 46 km in Karnal district. This also includes 11 roads with a length of 78 km in Nuh district, 15 roads with a length of 104 km in Rohtak district, 11 roads with a length of 131 km in Sirsa district and six roads with a length of 38 km in Yamunanagar district.
