With better health facilities compared to neighbouring states, the government hospitals here continue to witness a spurt in patients’ footfall. In view of the increasing pressure of patients, additional health services are being expanded in government health institutions in a bid to provide timely treatments to patients irrespective of the native state of patients.
Be it the Corona period or normal situation, the districts of the state adjoining other states have more patients as compared to other districts. Most of the patients come from Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
Panchkula district of Haryana, adjacent to state capital Chandigarh, gets a large number of patients. The civil hospital of the district sees a footfall of more than 4,000 patients a day, prompting the health government to come up with additional health facilities. It has also come to light that patients from Punjab’s Baltana, Zirakpur, Derabassi and even Laldu and Mohali are continuously visiting hospitals to get timely and quality treatment in Panchkula. Apart from this, patients from Himachal Pradesh too are being treated here. Patients of Uttar Pradesh also do not lag behind.
About the increasing patients’ load, Dr Umesh Modi, PMO, Civil Hospital, Panchkula, said that in the wake of the spurt in patients from several states, the daily OPD has gone above 4,000. The hospital management leaves no stone unturned to provide timely treatment to all the patients. On the other hand, Atal Cancer Care Center, established on 9 May, 2022 in Ambala, is continuously receiving huge patients as about 11,000 patients have already got treatment here. Apart from this, more than 300 radiotherapy and 100 brachy therapy have been conducted.
Besides, patients in large numbers throng PGIMS Rohtak. Faridabad and Gurugram hospitals too face similar situation.
