HARYANA GOVT CHARGESHEETS FIVE ROADWAYS GMs FOR IMPROPER FUNCTIONING OF BUSES DURING AGITATION

In the wake of two-day agitation by Haryana roadways employees pertaining to their demands, the state government had ordered in advance for the officials to ensure the smooth functioning of the buses so that the citizens do not face any kind of hurdle while travelling. Contrary to this, what came to the fore was that a few senior officials failed to perform their duty accordingly that resulted in strict action against them by the state government.

In the wake of the failure and casual approach towards the duty of five General Managers (GMs) of Haryana roadways, the government has decided to come up with a strict decision against the five GMs deployed at different depots in the state. It is pertinent to mention that action against the concerned GMs has been initiated under Rule 7 of Haryana Civil Services Act under which the services of the concerned officials can be terminated. Thus, it is evident from the ongoing scenario that the government doesn’t seem to be in a mood to let the concerned be negligent easily.

The government has taken action against Devdutt, Rajiv Rampal, Surendra, and RS Puniya deployed at Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Palwal, and Sirsa roadways depots respectively and orders regarding the same were issued on Tuesday with immediate effect. Apart from the aforesaid, a letter also has been written to take strict action against another GM namely Rahul Mittal, an HCS officer deployed at Hisar depot on 30 March. In continuation to the above mentioned, it is worth stating that Puniya, who will retire on 31 March, will not get any retirement benefit till the enquiry gets completed as the same has been ordered by the state government.

While reacting to the issue, the transport minister Moolchand Sharma said that the state government already had ordered instructing GMs to ensure the proper functioning of buses during the strike but they failed to do so and in view of this, the government has issued an order to take stern action against them under Rule 7 of Haryana Civil Services Act.

Further, he said that even in the future, the government is most likely to eye such officials with a casual approach and negligent attitude.

Besides, it also came to light that the government is planning to deploy the negligent officials at the state headquarters situated in Chandigarh.

It is pertinent to mention that as many as 32 GMs have been deployed in Haryana at the depots as well as the state headquarters. Out of these, 24 GMs have been assigned duty at the district depots while the remaining eight are deployed at headquarters. Among these, six officials hail from HCS cadre and one of the officials is an HCS.
