In a significant development, Samba Police has detained a notorious criminal, identified as Mohd. Irshad alias “Shadu,” involved in a staggering twenty theft and burglary cases. The detention has been carried out under the Public Safety Act (PSA) following an order issued by the District Magistrate, Samba.
Mohd. Irshad, a resident of Teli Basti Bari Brahmana, was implicated in a series of theft and burglary incidents spanning areas such as Bari Brahmana, Vijaypur, Ramgarh, Samba, Purmandal, Bahu Fort Jammu, Nagrota Jammu, Channi Himat Jammu, Gangyal Jammu, and Katra in Reasi district.
Described as a habitual thief, Irshad’s activities were deemed detrimental to public order and peace. Operating as a self-styled commander of thieves, he had influenced several others to carry out criminal acts under his guidance.
Given his persistent involvement in thefts, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba compiled a dossier along with related documents, submitting them to the office of the District Magistrate, Samba, seeking a detention order under the PSA for Irshad. Acting promptly, the District Magistrate issued the detention order, directing the immediate detention and incarceration of the accused.
Following the issuance of the detention order, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Samba took swift action, detaining the hardened criminal and placing him in the confines of District Jail Kathua. This move is expected to curtail Irshad’s involvement in criminal activities and ensure the safety and security of the public.
