Govt, Opposition Mull Over Strategy To Counter Each Other In Upcoming Assembly Session

The ruling faction and the Opposition will be eyeball-to-eyeball in the upcoming Assembly session from March 2 in which the budget will be tabled by the BJP-JJP government.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar continues to chair meetings with officials and take their suggestions for the preparations of the budget. A pre-budget consultation meeting was held at his residence with officers and businessmen associated with industrial organisations from across the state on Wednesday.

Prior to this, a pre-budget consultation meeting was held with the Council of Ministers and administrative secretaries.

The Congress, the main opposition party in the state, is mulling over all possible strategies to take on the ruling government over a string of issues. A meeting of the Congress legislators was held under party stalwart and leader of opposition Bhupender Singh Hooda to come up with a plan to take on the government in the Assembly session.

While addressing the media here, Hooda took on the government saying that the ruling faction completely failed to meet the expectations of the commoners.

“Many issues including unemployment, condition of farmers, crop compensation, water logging, pension deduction of elderly people, increasing crime, drugs, illegal mining, scams, inflation, education, health and poor condition of roads were elaborately discussed in the meeting of Congress Legislature Party,” he said.

The MLAs talked about raising the problems of their respective constituencies in the Assembly. In the meeting, Hooda said the burden of debt and corruption on the people is increasing because of the policies of the coalition government.

“Haryana has the highest unemployment, rising poverty, deep inequality, backbreaking inflation, deteriorating law and order, huge debt, economic slowdown, poor health facilities, falling education level, widespread corruption, social tension, terrible crime, insecurity of women, Dalits and weaker sections, besides challenges like pollution,” Hooda said.

In reaction, Chief Minister Manohar Lal attacked the Opposition and said that it has no issues in the state. “The state government left no stone unturned to make the best policies for the betterment of the people.”
