In a proactive move to promote electoral awareness, the Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) at Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh, conducted a series of engaging activities on February 13, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Sangam Kapoor.
The initiative aimed to encourage young voters to actively participate in the upcoming General Elections in 2024, focusing on the Kajheri and Sector-52 areas of Chandigarh.
College students took the lead by creating a vibrant rangoli in a residential park, intending to convey the powerful message, “Nothing Like Voting – I Will Vote for Sure.” The artistic display sought to inspire and remind residents of the significance of their votes in shaping the democratic process.
Another noteworthy activity included a signature campaign organized by Dr. Renuka Mehra, the Nodal Officer of ELC, along with a team of 15 dedicated college volunteers and local resident Surjit Singh. This campaign aimed to motivate residents, as well as school and college volunteers, to pledge their votes for the position of the Prime Minister and advocate for the selection of a democratic government.
The collaborative efforts of the Electoral Literacy Club, college volunteers, and local residents exemplify a community-driven approach to instill the importance of civic duty and active participation in the democratic process. As the General Elections draw nearer, such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering a politically aware and engaged citizenry.
