On Nagaland Statehood Day, Governor Kalraj Mishra on Friday congratulated and extended his best wishes to the residents of Nagaland in Raj Bhavan. The Governor said that on December 1, 1963, Nagaland came into existence as the 16th state of India. This state is rich in tribal pride associated with Indian culture. Mishra said that Nagaland is surrounded by Arunachal Pradesh to the northeast, Manipur to the south, Assam to the north-northeast, and Myanmar (Burma) to the east. He said that this state, enriched with tribal traditions, is also preserving India’s tribal heritage.
The Governor said that the goal of celebrating the establishment day of states under ‘One India, Best India’ is that states can deeply connect with each other’s culture. Before this occasion, the Governor had the Constitution’s preamble and fundamental duties read. Chief Secretary Subir Kumar was also present on this occasion.
