In consonance with the directions given by Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain to ensure the quality of food products in the wake of the festive season, a food safety team led by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mohali, Chandrajyoti Singh carried out surprise checks at sweetmeat shops of Banur on Wednesday.
Divulging the details, SDM Mohali said that the inspection was aimed at ensuring the quality and standards of the manufacturing of sweets as per the guidelines laid down under the Food Safety and Standards Act of India. A number of samples of milk products and other materials such as Chamcham, Milk Cake, Khoa, Besan Laddoo and Paneer Kutcha were collected during the inspection, she further added.
The team led by SDM Chandrajyoti Singh comprises Assistant Commissioner (Food Safety) Amit Joshi, Anil Kumar Food Safety Officer, Ravi Nandan Food Safety Officer and Pankaj Kumar Reader to SDM. The team while carrying out the surprise check at Layalpur Sweets, Chhinda Sweets and Hotel Grand Punjab of Banur also inspected the cleanliness of the workshops and display of the items in the proper and safe manner in showcases.
