Five people detained at Delhi airport for smuggling over 5-kg gold into India

Over five kilogrammes of gold, worth a total of about Rs 2.56 crore, were seized from five travellers at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport by customs officers. The precious metal was brought into the country illegally.
According to officials, the travelers, who were Indian citizens, sneaked the gold via Bangkok. “All five of the travelers were detained. They were stopped on the same aircraft route, which was between Bangkok and Delhi, according to a senior customs official. A case with charges of smuggling against them has been filed. Two of the four passengers arrived at Delhi Airport’s Terminal -3 on June 21 and another two on June 22. The other individual arrived on June 20.
