On Saturday morning, after arriving at Sangolli Rayanna railway station in Bengaluru, Karnataka, the KSR Bengaluru Udyan Daily Express (Train No. 11301) caught fire at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, according to officials.
There have been no reports of casualties or injuries from the incident, which happened at around 7:00 am.
Authorities at the station raised an alarm when they observed smoke coming from the locomotive of the train. Following intelligence, a crew of fire tenders arrived at the scene and stabilised the situation.
Officials with South-Western Railway said that smoke was noticed two hours after the train’s arrival.
They claimed that the incident took place two hours after passengers deboarded about two hours before the incident.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The fire was doused immediately after it came to notice, and a team of experts is assessing the situation to ascertain the exact cause behind it, officials said.
