‘Farmers Gear Up for Showdown in Punjab and Haryana’

After the strictness of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT), farmers are preparing to mobilize against the decisions taken by the Punjab-Haryana government on the issue of stubble burning. Farmers in Punjab and Haryana have announced to surround DC offices. At the same time, it has been announced that farmers will not have to pay the fine for burning stubble. This order will be reversed.
Taking strict action in Punjab, FIR has been registered against around 400 farmers. Many farmers are being fined simulatenously. In Amritsar alone, around 6.50 lakh farmers have been fined. Farmer organizations have now gathered against this and have announced that on Monday 20th November, all the DC offices of Punjab and Haryana will be surrounded.
Farmer organizations have appealed to all the farmers that if they are fined for burning stubble, then they should not be fined. Farmer organizations are raising this demand and all fines imposed will be refunded. Not only this, but preparations have also started to get orders like keeping farmers in the red line and canceling passports, etc. withdrawn.
If the FIR registered against the farmers is not canceled, the farmers will further intensify their protest.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has alleged that a wrong perception is being created before the people. In which it was said that pollution in Delhi is increasing due to burning of stubble by farmers. But
government figures themselves show that industry contributes 51 percent to the increase in pollution. Then why are farmers being targeted?
Recently, after the notices issued to the DCs of 11 districts, the cases of stubble burning in the state reduced by almost 50 percent. Recently, 1150 cases were reported. At the same time, on Saturday this figure has fallen to 637.
